Radiotherapy
I've just learned that I need this treatment due to a recurrence of a pituitary tumour on the bottom of the brain.

Any who'ers had or know of anybody who's had this trestment ?

I have a six week course and any tips of side effects etc would be helpful, am hoping tokeep on working (don't get full sick pay ) , is this realistic ?

Nowadays , at least in the States, they play music of your choice from Pandora. I had a nice nap to the music of Tom Waits during a particularly long MRI

Theres still a WHO fund knocking about for stuff like this - Don't be shy to ask for help if you need it.

Re: Radiotherapy
My sister in law is a radiotherapy person (radiologist?). I'm not though so I know fuck all about it.

But in all seriousness good luck mate, keep your chin up (unless they tell you to keep it facing downwards during treatment, in which case I would probably follow their advice rather than mine).

Re: Radiotherapy
Chatham, I hope you're well mate.

I underwent a month of radiotherapy (one session a day) when I was suffering from hodgkins lymphoma (cancer of the lymph nodes). Thankfully I am 100% cancer free now, and so clearly the radiotherapy worked. It is amazing the precision with which radiotherapy works nowadays, and it is so much more efficient than it was say 10yrs ago. The process itself is totally painless, and basically involves you lying down whilst a machine whirs around you. The main problem I had was that it could get quite boring lying there for 30mins or so! In terms of side-effects you may well feel slightly drained after a session, but that is it. I worked throughout the month, and so there's no reason why you shouldn't be able to do the same.

I wish you all the best mate, and if you want any further advice, or just someone to speak to who's been through it before, please don't hesitate to whomail me.

Chatham

All i can say is that Radiotherapy does work mate and have seen a few family and mates get through their Cancers with the radiotherapy treatment and live many years, I do not know about your one though but God bless and I wish you good luck.
The common side effect is feeling nauseous and generally unwell.
